Credentials

Overview

I have over 25 years experience as a business owner in the performance improvement industry. My goal is to help people form clear, actionable ideas about themselves and the world around them. The worth of these ideas lies in the ability they provide clients to focus their energies, talents and values to achieve the goals they desire.

I am an active member of Houston Coaches, the organization of professional coaches in Houston..

Executive Experience

  • Founded a program evaluation firm serving government agencies including the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Department of Education (DOE) and the New York Department of Mental Health.
  • Founded an organizational development and performance technology firm serving Fortune 500 clients including Arthur Andersen, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Citicorp, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Hewlett-Packard, Lincoln National Health Insurance, McDonald’s, Motorola and Xerox.
  • As national board president for three years, led strategic planning initiatives and advised the Executive Director on organizational renewal for Literacy Volunteers of America, a national organization of 23,000 volunteers.

My Perspective on Technology

My Ph.D. is from the Division of Social Sciences at the University of Chicago, with an emphasis on research design, statistics and measurement. This has helped me to understand the methodology of science and technology but, at the same time, it has given me respect for the challenge of creating useful conceptual frameworks out of rather messy data. I find these insights into the scientific process at least as useful in my coaching as my knowledge of social science theory and practice.

Academic Experience

  • Previously served as both adjunct and full time faculty and advisor of Ph.D. candidates at Syracuse University, over a 10-year period
  • Ph.D. in Social Sciences (Measurement, Evaluation and Statistical Analysis) from the University of Chicago
  • MS in Educational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin
  • BFA in Music and Education from the University of Wisconsin

  • ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC)
  • Gestalt Certified Professional Coach, The Gestalt Institute of Cleveland
